What the best facilitators have in common

At our recent Open Programme, across three modules, participants from L&D, HR, operations and leadership came together for something genuinely layered: real theoretical depth, hands-on practice, and space between sessions to apply it where it counts.

The programme drew people from genuinely different professional worlds - L&D, operations, HR - and what emerged was a shared recognition that regardless of function, the work of bringing people together around a shared purpose asks the same things of you. Presence. Curiosity. The ability to make it about the room, not about yourself.
“When you’re facilitating in front of a room, it’s that you focus on yourself so much. And this program has helped me understand that actually — to not make it about me, to make it about them.”
That shift - simple to describe, genuinely difficult to make - was the one participants came back to most. And it was supported by a structure designed to let it happen: three modules with real time between them to practise, test, and return with lived experience to reflect on. Robust theory and hands-on practice held in balance throughout, and a safe space to stretch, receive constructive feedback, and make immediate changes to the way they show up.
What participants left with
· Greater self-belief and a quieter inner critic
· The ability to truly centre the people in the room
· Confidence to challenge, connect, and lead through change
· Skills that extend way beyond facilitation

Participants described coming away with real self-belief, a quieter inner critic, greater confidence, and an appreciation of theoretical models they could immediately put into practice. More than that, they left with an understanding of how to lead teams through change: how to hold differences, challenge views, and adapt to get what a conversation genuinely needs.
“There are other applications of this. Outside of the core facilitation piece, I think it’s about being able to understand who you’re talking to, lean into them, and adapt to get what you need from the conversation - and to help the person get what they need as well.”
If you work with leadership teams and want a real foundation or a meaningful boost in professional confidence, we built this for you. And the good news? Our next Open Programme is coming in September, so if you’re curious, now’s a great time to start the conversation.
